Executive MBA Program: News
Change to the Oregon Executive MBA Is Coming
The Oregon Executive MBA has been providing superior quality education to the state’s business leaders for twenty-six years. Now, exciting new educational opportunities are on the horizon for the Oregon Executive MBA. New international experts will join the current stellar faculty, while the global reach of the program will expand (including the opportunity to travel to leading international institutions). New scheduling options will make it even easier to participate in the educational offerings, and local events and seminars will create new and intriguing learning experiences.
After twenty-five years, the University of Oregon's shared arrangement with Portland State University (PSU) and Oregon State University (OSU) for offering the Oregon Executive MBA is coming to an end. Beginning in 2013, the UO Lundquist College of Business will unilaterally offer a brand new, restructured program to serve the senior executive market in the Northwest.
This development was prompted by a strategic review that determined the program could function more effectively and better serve the needs of students and business if restructured to be managed by the University of Oregon alone. The cooperative arrangement with PSU and OSU will continue through 2013, supporting the current incoming class and allowing for the implementation of a new model. (Tuition and program structure will remain unchanged for the entering class.) All three institutions are amenable to this resolution, which is testimony to the quality of the cooperative working relationship.
The new model for the Oregon Exective MBA will be designed to appeal to the full- MBA degree market as well as a growing segment seeking just-in-time executive and leadership skills. It will accomplish this by dividing the MBA curriculum into a number of "certificates" (quantitative skills, strategic thinking, leadership development, and so forth), each of which constitutes a professional "credential" on its own and which collectively qualify for an MBA degree. Restructuring the program in this way will provide just-in-time education to business for senior leadership development while, at the same time, serving the executive MBA market.
Details are still to be worked through, and the model will take two or three years to implement, allowing time to create a stellar faculty roster, to forge relationships with universities and companies abroad to support the global content of the program, and to fully engage businesses in the Northwest and beyond.
There is no better time to consider who you are and what you can become as a graduate of Oregon’s flagship Executive MBA.
